Helping Universities protect their ideas
GeoVS was founded in 2009 by a team from the University of Glamorgan to develop a system which rapidly converts maps or charts into 3D visual images or models, providing users with real-time information for a number of applications such as surface and underwater navigation, and situational awareness around harbours and offshore platforms. Early stage investment was provided by Finance Wales and this help them develop the system, which was subsequently protected with patents and Trade Marks with the help of Chapman & Co.
Its first product, C-Vu® 3D VTS, has been successfully deployed in several marine ports. The spinout was recently bought by Software Radio Technology (SRT). The Bath-based specialist in maritime domain technology bought the entire share capital of GeoVS, valuing the company and it’s Intellectual Property at around £955,000.
