Taking stock and setting a new course with an IP Audit.
Hot Horse was established in 1999 by Clare Wilkinson and Will Swaine, and since then has developed many web-based software products for its clients. Clare and Will wanted to move to a licensing model in which Hot Horse develops and maintains its own software products, which are licensed out to, and customised for, particular customers. Clare and Will asked Chapman & Co to undertake a government-funded IP Audit to establish Hot Horse’s current position with respect to Intellectual Property, and to advise on how IP will be of relevance to them as they transition to the new model.
A wide scope IP was carried out by Chapman & Co, and an IP Audit Report was prepared setting out Hot Horse’s IP position and advising on what steps should be taken to protect its interests when operating under the new model. By undertaking an IP Audit, a company can be confident that their IP position is optimal for their business needs.
